I am so excited for the upcoming Extra Life Stream on November 12th!  I have never watched one live, so I am extra pleased that I am a First Member this year!

I don't have tons of money, but I am definitely saving up for a shirt and a poster.  My plan for the Stream is going to be fun.  I am planning on going to sleep super early the night before; that way I can get up in time to watch the stream from the very start.  And I am gonna watch the whole thing.  All 24 hours.  If the Rooster Teeth cast and crew are doing it, I am going to do it, too.  I can't give them much money for Extra Life, although I do plan to donate beyond the shirt and poster, but I certainly can give them my time.  It really isn't much, but I feel like it is the best I can give them.

From clips I have seen from past years, I know it is going to be a wild ride, and I cannot wait to watch the Achievement Hunters be part of it.  I am going to wear my PJs all day and eat snacks and snuggle with my two kittens.  It will be like a sleepover with Rooster Teeth!  I cannot wait!

Dear Kind UK Person Who Actually Took the Time to Read This,

There are some shirts that are only offered in the UK store that I really, really want in my wardrobe.  The issue, of course, is that I am not located in the UK, and the UK store will not ship to the United States.

Are there any UK RT fans who would be willing to work with me so that I can somehow buy these shirts?

Please send me a message or a comment on my profile if you might be willing to help!

Thank you in advance for even looking at this!

There is a very subtle difference between an introvert and a misanthrope.

An introvert is someone who gains energy from within.  The word "introvert" even means "inward turning."  Introverts are often seen as shy and quiet.  They like their alone time and being by themselves.

Now, a misanthrope is something different.  A misanthrope is a person who dislikes humankind and avoids society.

See the difference?  Introverts like being alone, but they certainly don't hate humans.

I am a misanthrope.  I am also an extrovert.  The two are not mutually exclusive.

I gain energy from being near the people (as an extrovert does) that I like.  I just happen to not like many people.

People are noisome.  They have opinions, and when your own opinions don't match their own, people tell you so.  Sometimes at great volume.  People also have this weird function where they believe that I should care about their lives, even when it does not relate to me in any way.  No, I don't want to hear about your child and what he did in school today, I don't even know your child.

I don't know when things changed for me, but at this point in my life (a week away from the 31st anniversary of my birth, I don't mind telling you) I have little patience for pretending to be a normal, pleasant person to complete strangers.  I don't want to engage in small talk or do favors for people or even acknowledge that I notice you exist.  I keep my headphones on and my head down, and I continue an internal mantra of "Please shut up; please shut up" going whenever someone I don't know speaks to me.

I think my issue is that I just need to find My Kind of People.  This doesn't mean I need to be friends with only people that hate the world (although, maybe that would help?).  Rather, it means that I need to find people who are the same kind of weird as I am.  Someone who understands that it is okay to be who you are.  I want to know more people that accept that many of my favorite people are people that I have never met (i.e. Achievement Hunter, etc.).  Hell! some of my favorite people don't even exist (fictional characters), and that's okay!  Let's all get together and talk about our weird fascinations!  Let's spend an entire evening quoting our favorite movies and answering more and more inappropriate questions as we get to know each other better.

And if we have time, we can discuss how we dislike humankind and avoid society.

      I never understand negative comments.

      Let me be more specific:

I never understand negative comments from "fans" on videos.  Who is putting so much energy into telling people that they suck?  From what I see there are a number of different types of Negative Commenters that I frequently see:

      Type 1: The But Fan

The But Fan, to me, is the most confusing of the negative commenters.  They are self-proclaimed lovers of whatever it is they are watching, but they always have issues with what they are seeing in said videos.  The But Fan M.O. is "I'm a fan, but...."  "I love you guys, but why did you decide to play the game like this?" "You guys are the best, but I cannot stand this one member of your group."

What I read when I see these comments is, "I'm a fan, but not really."

I understand that not every person is going to like every single thing they see in a video, and that is fine.  But if you are a fan, be supportive.  It is possible to focus on the things you like, and comment positively about that.

      Type 2: The Detractor

The Detractor is a person who was a fan of something at one point, but due to various circumstances, they are no longer a fan.  And they want everyone to know why.

"I used to love these videos, but ever since this one person joined, I can't stand them."

"They have changed so much!  The older videos were so much better!"

Detractors are often the meanest of the commenters.  And that is because they feel as though they have been wronged in some way.  They take the fact that people are still able to enjoy content that they now hate as a personal insult.  The videos suck, and you're an idiot, because you haven't reach the higher plane of being that they have.

You know what I do when I don't like something?  I stop doing it.  Why put yourself through the stress of watching something you no longer enjoy?  People grow and change; even you grow and change; and your interests may not always be the same.  So move on to something new.  Complaining isn't going to make the thing you once loved look shiny and new as it once was.  Those days are over; time to leave them behind.

Type 3: The Know It All

The Human Race has evolved a distinct personality trait: we want to be Right.  All the fucking time.  Even when we know we are wrong, we want to be right.  Everyone has felt this; what injustice have we all felt that makes us feel this need to pronounce the information we absolutely know??  Because I am human, I understand this need, and I have even felt a need to write a comment driven by this feeling.  But I hold back.  Why?  Because I don't want to be a Know It All.

The Know It All's favorite word is "actually":  "Actually, that fact you said that you thought might have been true, is actually false.  Actually."  Or "Actually that colon in the first sentence of this paragraph should have been inside the quotation marks." Or "Actually, this is why you are stupid."  We get it!  We are not omniscient, we make mistakes, we repeat facts that are untrue; the fact of the matter is, there is a time and a place for you to write a ten page paper on the real reason that pineapples are actually a vegetable, and guess what; it ain't the comments section of a let's play on YouTube.

The Know It All's main motivation is that they want people to know that they are smart.  But guess what, buddy; we already think you're smart!  We want to like you because we are fans of the same thing.  We assume that you are smart, and you don't need to make people feel stupid in order to prove it.

      Type 4: The Troll

Oh, the Troll.  It is an age-old tradition that began back in a time of magic and bridges and goats or some shit.

Trolls are looking for a reaction.  That's it.  That is why they do everything that they do.  They are here to eat cheese and piss you off, and they just ran outta cheese!

The best way to deal with a Troll leaving a negative comment is to ignore it.  I know that sounds impossible, but really, you do not want get down to their Troll-y under-bridge level, what with all the goats and shit.

So now that we know what we are looking for, how do we stop Negative Comments?  The answer is so easy!  Leave Positive Comments!  Talk about what you do like in a video.  Encourage the people you are watching; tell them to continue with those things in the future.  If you let them know what you want to see, they will put more of it into their content.  If you just tell them what you don't like, you're just making someone feel bad.  And once you no longer love what you are watching, stop watching it.  Move on to bigger and better entertainment.  And leave positive, encouraging comments there, too!

And remember: nobody likes a Know It All.

I couldn't help smirking while watching this week's RT Podcast; specifically at the moment where Chris and Burnie mentioned people looking up spoilers to movies or books or shows.  I do that.  Life is full enough of surprises, I don't have time or energy to stress over fictional characters.

I don't like the feeling of anticipation.  My mind must translate it to a feeling of unease.  It has nothing to do with impatience and everything to do with anxiety.

For example, I am a major Harry Potter fan.  I have a Harry Potter tattoo, it's that big of a deal.  When the last book came out, I went to the midnight release.  I got my book, brought it home, and the first thing I did was turn to the last page to see if Harry survived the story.  "Why would anyone do this, you crazy person!!?" you might be asking, and the answer is simple enough: I knew I would not enjoy the story if I didn't know Harry's ultimate fate.  If I had not read ahead, I would have spent the entirety of the book worrying about whether Harry Potter lived or not.

Stranger Things was hell until I knew whether or not Will Byers made it back from the Upside Down.

Who the hell is Keyser Soze?  One Google search later, now I can enjoy the film.

Don't even get me started on LOST!

I always find people's reactions to this aspect of my personality interesting.  I would never spoil a story for someone else, so I am not sure why people get so upset.  People are always so shocked; many are even outraged!  How could I enjoy something when I already know what's going to happen?!

Well.  It's like I said before: life is filled with enough uncertainty; why not look into the future every once in a while?

    • Thoughts on an American Tragedy

Today is a dark day in American history.  Not only did the country elect a racist, homophobic, xenophobic megalomaniac as our leader, we also learned that nearly 60 million of our fellow Americans would choose to align themselves with such a person.

Growing up, I was bullied a lot.  I am sure many people can relate to this.  I was the quiet, nerdy girl who preferred reading to being loud and rowdy.  Later, I preferred staying in at night playing video games to going out and partying like the other girls in my high school.  Really, what it came down to was that I was different than they were, and they didn't like me because of that.

The point is, bullies are something that I simply cannot abide.  My mother taught me that every single person, no matter their race, sexuality, religion, gender, creed, or code, has worth and should be treated as such.  I live with that belief in my heart every single day.

I refuse to let this be the defeat that it feels like it is today.  I allowed myself today to take crying breaks in the bathroom and let myself fall to pieces.  No more!  Now, it is time to fight!

We need to fight Hate with the only thing that can beat it, and that is Love.  Show your fellow human the respect that they have not afforded you this day.  We are stronger than hate, and we cannot allow any bully to push us around, not even if that bully is now leading our nation.

Stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves; stand up to people who would rob you of your rights; Stand Up!

Now is not the time for defeat.  This is not the end of anything.  We continue to stand, we continue to fight, and we continue to Keep Moving Forward.

"We are never fighting alone.  Get up, get going, I'll meet you there."

    • There are so many shirts.....

I collect t-shirts.  They are my favorite thing ever!  There are so many shirts that I want from the Rooster Teeth Store.

Even more than that, though, there are so many shirts that I want from the U.K. store that I can never get.  It is so sad to me that I can't own the Mark Nutt shirt or the Achievement City skyline shirt.  Mogar Is Ready, Haywood Dairy.  Why can't we bring them back to the U.S./International Store?

Anyway, no point to this post other than to say that Rooster Teeth has some amazing shirts, and I literally want them all.

I just sent in my application to become a guardian for RTX 2017, and I have to admit, I am nervous.  This is something I want more than I have wanted anything in a long time.  I really want to get into this community more, and this would be the perfect way to do that.

      Just...keep fingers crossed for me.

Also: #1HappyThing for today: Oh em gee Red Dead Redemption 2!!!

      acheemient chaotic neutral

I am not a positive person.  By nature, I am a pessimist.  There have been days where I have thought to myself: "What is the one thing making me sad today?"  I don't really need to point this out, but that is really unhealthy.

So, I figured, why not turn things around; I started #1HappyThing.  Every day, I try to post something on my Facebook or Twitter or wherever that makes me happy.

My #1HappyThing can be anything, honestly; the other day it was that a group of pugs is called a grumble.  Just nonsense, but it makes me happy.  Another #1HappyThing was the memory of the smell of the plastic Halloween buckets from McDonald's.  Again, incidental, but does that really matter if it makes me smile?

The point is, I am really trying to be positive; because being negative just isn't working for me anymore.
