So @akouryo is incredible. He did this for the heck of it, updating from an old photo he made for me a few years back.
I like it because it represents everything that's awesome in my life. Freedom, Red Team, Music, and socks!

God this year had a lot of shit to it didn't it? Seems everyone is saying that these days, with all the politics, entertainment news, violence, accusations, just...there was a lot to take in this year.
Last year I made a list like I've always done for some resolutions for myself, and I got two outta five.
I close at the end of January on a house in the southern suburbs of Minneapolis, and I cannot wait. There are so many things I already have planned to do with the house, one of the first being getting the basement upgraded/cleaned up to behave more like a bar/party space than anything else. It has a wet bar in it and a giant fireplace, I'm sure I can come up with something!
I expanded my horizons quite a bit, special thanks to my girlfriend Rachel for that. Began watching some anime shows and went to some burlesque shows and concerts. Nadavis47 and MrCheese got me back into watching WWE wrestling again last January and I couldn't be happier watching a show that I know is scripted and just entertaining without a lot of the BS going on in the world. It's a great escape for sure.
I know haven't been posting anything guitar wise, and I definitely have fallen by the wayside with promising to learn the entirety of Avenged Sevenfold's City of Evil album back in May (?) I think. But with @Schraver coming over here for my marathon run in October, he helped me out in figuring out some recording things that my amp can do on my computer and I look to do more especially when I've my own place!
I can still do 50 push-ups in one go, and I upped my pull-ups to 6 straight! Not the 100 and 15, respectively, but hey, I'm okay with that. Running the marathon definitely threw some interesting wrenches into the system when it comes to muscle building, but I'm really happy where I am fitness wise and the game plan is to maintain now...and not run another marathon until I'm at least 30!
For the alcohol drinking, I hit 179 days sober. That's just under 50%. I planned on hitting 200, let's just say I'm trying. I know I'm not dependent of it, I just really like good beer, haha. This foot medication that I am currently on right now limits me to a beer a week, per doctor's recommendations. So I've been doing really well with not drinking during the work week and saving that one beer for a nice beer during Vikings football. I look to continue this in a different way after my prescription comes to an end.
Alright that's enough rambling. It's 8:00am right now and currently -33°F with the windchill included. Kinda debating going out for a run or heading to the gym...but let's get to some new goals for 2018.
1. Limit my phone/internet usage. I'll admit, this year has left me worse for wear. I developed a bad habit of just constantly checking the news, Twitter, and what have you. I plan on turning off notifications for a lot of the apps on my phone, and look to try and not check it every 15 or so minutes like I have been. Can't really document that, so turning off notifications is going to be the best bet!
2. Pay more attention to local politics, especially now that I own a home! That doesn't mean I'm going to be posting more about politics on social media. I've learned that I realllllllly dislike hearing about it from others, but that doesn't mean I dislike other's speaking their mind. Simply a preference on my end. But I'll likely start attending town hall meetings and the like, plus that helps me figure out new happenings for my job, so a win-win!
3. Limit my coffee/alcohol intake. (Talk about a broken record right?) I currently have two or three large cups of coffee a day, and the alcohol stuff is a given. I'm not aiming for a certain number here, just going to work on drinking more water and tea instead!
4. Start organizing more events this year. I organized a few events for work, and just started talks with my high school swim team to start doing some for them next year. Put the skills and experience I developed doing RT MN, Rooster Speak, and Rooster Rumble events over the years to use in my professional life and personal life will be really fun! Plus it's mainly brewery/bar takeovers, I sense a theme...
5. Reach out more to my friends. I've been pretty quiet in the last couple months after the marathon run, and I really want to catch up with my friends that I've made on here, grew up with, and everything else. Also I want to get the ball rolling with my new neighbors come February and see if I can get some neighborhood parties going if they are willing and able!
I think that's a good list of things to work on...let's get started! Also if 2018 could be nicer to everyone, that would be phenomenal. I can't wait to chat/hangout with any of ya again. Whether it be in Austin come August, sooner, or later, let's boogie!

After over a year of saving, over 15 house showings, and tons of different issues coming up, I can now say that I have purchased a home! I will be moving in at the end of January, and already have plans for upgrades including making the built in wet bar swanky as hell and awesome!
@busterblade will be my roommate along with his dog Reza, and I'm really looking forward to being out on my "own" again and starting to live on my own accord again.
I will be posting photos on here when I move in and start getting things set up.

What's everyone making for this joyous American holiday!?
I'm making apple pies, thanks to the recipe from Binging with Babish, my regular jalapeno poppers, and a deep fried turkey for Saturday! I had to make an apple pie for tomorrow's festivities with my girlfriend Rachel's family and it just came out of the oven!
Check it out mannnnnnnnnnn (or womannnnnnnnnnn) ((or peeeeeeeeeepppppps))!

That title is in quotes because I've started taking a medication for my disgusting foot fungus/toenail infections that have been plaguing me for over a decade now. The reason sobriety comes into play is because the medication is processed through the liver, so the doctors recommend you abstain from alcohol for the majority of the prescription.
This is a three month prescription, so I've decided to go sober for the next three months...somewhat. I'm limiting myself to having one beer/drink a week.
The thing is, after this past week of taking the medication, I don't have the urge to drink anymore. I was at at least a beer a night, and I always told myself it was so that I was able to calm myself down so I can get ready for bed. But now with some chamomile tea right before bed, and I'm also trying to read (books about music theory count as reading darnit!) so that I'm not on the computer or staring at a TV screen in bed.
So...this should be interesting!

I know I don't post here often (three posts in three months kinda often) and I really miss being able to actually express my feelings with more than 140 characters and not on Facebook where my family brings up my posts awkwardly at dinner.
I've been saving up for a house here for quite a while. To the point where I'm sure @busterblade is ready to kill me for teasing rooming together while his lease slowly ticks away at his apartment up here in the Twin Cities. I also am getting back into lifting weights more, and ran a marathon at the beginning of the month.
I can't believe I never posted about that on here. Three months ago I was talking crap about how certain people never posted about things on here and here I am...living life and not talking about it here. I mean hell, I've thought about deleting this post a few times since typing it out. Not sure why...maybe because I know I don't watch RT content anymore. Maybe it's because I know most of my friends that I keep up with that I met through here would see this on Twitter/FB/Rooster Speak instead...
Shit I dunno.
But I'm glad I can type out my thoughts on here instead of trying to come up with a witty joke.

I'm a private person. I post jokes about things regarding my life online and throw out some updates here and there, but I'm a private person.
No, I don't want to talk to you about whether or not I'm planning on getting married just because I mentioned I've thought of what my ideal wedding would be. No, I don't want to talk about what is on my computer screen at work during my down time as you walk past my cube, blurting out that I'm looking houses. No, I don't want to talk about whether or not I want to have kids just because I've mentioned seeing a friend's child over the weekend.
The best part is if I say "Don't want to talk about that really" to any of these folks, I come off as the negative person. I know they are striking up conversation, but honestly they ask questions about my life like they've always been a part of it.
So I've decided to start coming up with awkward responses to these kinds of questions, just to make the recipient feel as awkward as I do.
Marriage questions? "Nah, I'm offended by the whole 'one person only' thing."
House questions? "Nah, I'm looking for my next heist location."
Baby questions? "I really really like the idea of it, but anal sex is just so much better."
Got any other suggestions? Looking to weird them out, but also not be a total dick...

The further and further away I get from all the issues that externally and internally went down during this year's RTX, the more I just don't feel like posting a journal that I've been slowly forming up that covers my issues with the convention.
I feel like focusing on the negatives in a public light like this...it just doesn't feel right to me ya know? I'd rather reminisce over the great times that were had, but I understand that hiding away issues that I had and keeping them away from private/public forum would keep them from being removed for the forthcoming years.
Watering down the journal I have seems like a great idea (yes I know this is a terrible tease for something that shouldn't require it) but bringing my main concerns to the front of my page on this site would probably benefit more than hurt. I know people within different realms will misconstrue it as me being a lapsed RT community member or someone that is spiteful for anything that has happened to me in these eight years of me being a member of this site.
But frankly, if they honestly go into that sense of thought instead of taking things anyone in this community says with constructive criticism regarding RTX...then they've already lost their way.

So I'm still down in Austin for another day and a half as of this journal's posting, and I cannot wait to reflect on the ride that has been this year's event. There were a plethora of ups and a few downs, more journals about both of those things to come later.
Just wanted to post here that regardless of what happens, this community has an uncanny way of pushing through and staying incredible. Thanks to all of Rooster Speak, PA Guardian team, and everyone else for making this week amazing.
I will be coming back for next year (August 5th-7th holy shit thank fuck it isn't near the July 4th weekend again) but I will retire from my four year Guardian duties and be a regular attendee. More on all of that later...

Nice and short, I can't wait to hangout with the internet for a week starting tomorrow down in Austin, TX. It's going to be really fun, and I have been looking forward to see my friends ever since the end of last year's trip!
Who am I gonna see down there? If you see me, please don't be afraid (I'm not intimidating or anything) to say hi!
Hey everyone! I'm Newbs! I am a full fledged Grey Duck enthusiast, and hopefully a good enough guy for you to enjoy your time with me.

Hi! As of right now, I am no longer hosting/producing RT Minnesota community events or get togethers. So currently the community is still around, but we are not getting together.
