Hi Friends!

Community Track - Panel Applications
Can't wait to see everyone's entries!
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________
We’re at the point of the year where all of our planning for RTX Austin is really starting to take form, including the programming!
Side note - since this is my first introduction to some of you, my name is Clarissa and yes, I’m the one that works on the overall program, which is a bit scary for me to share. I promise I put a lot of time and consideration into how everything is planned out and I truly want you to have the best weekend ever.
Now, back to the reason I’m here and the exciting news I want to share with you. As a team, we're always thinking about how we can give back to our great community, and at RTX we always aim to go big! In honor of Rooster Teeth’s “Year of Community”, here are some things to expect this year at RTX Austin.
Community Track
This year we're thrilled to add a dedicated Community Track to our RTX programming lineup. We’ll be allotting 10-12 panels in this new track and we want YOU to submit your panel ideas!
*Applications will be open from Friday, March 16th at 10AM CDT to Monday, April 16th 11:59PM CDT. We've assembled a committee of Rooster Teeth employees who have come from the community to review and select these panels.
Community Corner
We will have a dedicated space in the Exhibit Hall to promote the work and talents of our community. Are you an artist, designer, illustrator, and/or create cool shit? We'd love to give you the space to show it off!
* Applications will be open from Friday, March 16th at 10AM CDT to Monday, April, 16th 11:59PM CDT. We've assembled a committee of Rooster Teeth employees who have come from the community to review and select these panels.
Keep a lookout for both applications on our RTX Austin website (www.rtxaustin.com), Twitter and Facebook page.
If you're interested in applying, go ahead and start planning out what your type of panel would be and the details around it so you'll be ready when it's time to apply. We can't wait to see all your submissions!
Lastly, if you have any questions, please remember to reach out to our lovely customer support team at rtxevent@roosterteeth.com. They're here to help!
xoxo

Just a heads up: part of my submission is a four page long character design file. I hope that's okay

So with the community panels, do you have to submit the individuals in the group, or can a group go with a "name" there and the individuals be filled in closer to the panel's time for substitutes.

You can fill in the individual names later if your panel is chosen.

Is there no way to submit an application with OUT using a google account? I do not have one and do not want one.

Does the community corner mainly have to be RT content? Or can it be original content as well?

Will RTX be providing discounted badges/special badges for panelists? That's how I've had it at most of the conventions I attend.

Unfortunately no, those selected will be responsible for their own travel and/or lodging as well as the RTX badge.

@Clarissa.Gonzalez Thank you for your reply Clarissa. Sorry to hear RTX will not be doing discounted badges for panelists. Hopefully that will be implemented in the future.
I'm still very excited for the kind of content that including more community panels will bring.

So I'm trying to submit my prop/cosplay work to Community Corner... For the upload examples of your work... it only lets me upload 1 thing. I have so many examples. Do I just email more examples to you guys? Or resubmit the application???

This might be a bit late for your submission this time, but what I've personally done for other conventions is combine all my samples into one file - either using a photo collage application or uploading into Word/Pages and exporting to PDF.

Please please plaease! do an RTX Canada, I really dont have enough money to fly anywhere but I would love to meet everyone from Roosterteeth. I love the content that this company makes and I want to meet the people who make it. Roosterteeth has such an amazing community and it would be amizing if you could extend out to Canada one year.

We'd love to be everywhere and have RTX just a rotating carnival that travels the world with a bearded woman and the world's stretchiest man. But unfortunately, it's just not feasible and so we try to pick locations that could be more easily accessible to as much of our community as possible.

For the Community Corner Application, we have to fill in our email twice? Or is that a mistake? And is RoosterTeeth fanart accepted?

The community panels were always my favorite and I felt it was a bad move to exclude them.
Good on you for bringing them back.

I'd love to see RT cosplay panel. I follow several cosplayers, and I always ask about their process: character selection, making vs buying pieces, and pics to see different options. I'm not a cosplayer, but the crafting and artistry behind it inspires me

I dont really follow cosplay but I know that a lot people do and I think that a cosplay panel would be a great community panel for pro cosplayers and people who are new to cosplay as well. I think that this is a great opportunity for Roosterteeth fans to really flew their creative muscle.

For now, we're only accepting applications from community members who are able to make it to the convention to present in person. But we may be able to accommodate this for future events.

Also, it would be nice if you posted the submission form for the panels here as well, maybe as another journal. I don't follow FB or Twitter and I know there are a good many others c:

Oh, I didn't even consider that. Hmm, probably not though. I don't think it's widespread enough for an entire panel. Maybe if there were a general "RT forums" panel, but not on its own

This sounds awesome, but I do have a question to ask: I have a podcast up and running, so would I be able to use that for either Community Corner or Community Track?

If it's more conversational, it should submitted for a panel on the Community track.

There should be a booth in the hall where different community groups can promote themselves for x amount of time during the open hours, to allow state groups and others to let folks know they exist

Let groups create an advertisement the size of a piece of paper or so, contact info outside RTX (and what time they'll be at the booth, if they're present at the event), then sort them a little (music-based sub groups might go together, gaming groups could go together, US states by region, other countries by continent/proximity, etc), make a big spectacle of it, a wall advertising all these different community sub-groups. And then the community groups meeting to advertise themselves (like what you're talking about) could do so at a booth at one end of the wall, so there's a great big landmark to find them

Hi there! I have a question about the community corner. Are artists/creators who get accepted going to be obligated to spend the duration of floor hours AT their spot in the corner? Like artist alley booths/tables? Cuz if so, that takes away a lot of the fun of going to panels and events at rtx... Or is it going to just be something that artists can show off their work and be present, but also leave whenever they choose?
Cuz I'd love to apply for that, and I think a big part of the community knows and recognizes my work from the past 4 or so years. But spending the entire time in one place instead of enjoying what the con has to offer might be too big of a sacrifice.
Thanks :)

Hey simrell! This will be a shared space, as you're coming to enjoy RTX, we don't want to take away from your time enjoying the weekend. We will be rotating through the chosen community members through the 3 days. At the most, you'll be there for an hour.

The Fan Service #50 panel, its very simple on how it works, I take a seat along with the rest of the community and we have community members, Miles, Kerry, Cole, Gray, and Yssa, come on out and just talk about Anime...I think it'll be a great hit!

I am not going to RTX, but it would still be awesome to see some community workshops, too. The workshops are what I enjoyed the most at conventions - hands-on learning things and not the live versions of shows I can see throughout the year. (On an aside, that Full Sail thing is tempting - RT isn't the only people I watch who are promoting them - but not enough to pull me away from what I have right now.)

Is there anything in particular you'd want to see re: workshops? Or are there some other people that you watch online/have heard about that could run something really fun like that? I personally attended nearly every steampunk workshop at anime conventions even though I have 0 interest in ever actually doing steampunk...
