Buhahahaaha Gav you picked the most complex cricket game ever made, you can play it for hours and still not know how to do most things. This video was a mirror image of when I tried playing it. Entertaining tho.

Pfft, look at all of the people saying that Cricket is crap. Backyard Cricket is truly fun. The real Cricket is confusing as hell. Much better than Basketball, Baseball and Rugby.

I understand coming into any kind of sport can be confusing, so I'm not trying to talk crap or be rude, but seriously, why is it called cricket? This sport is nothing like the bug.

(This was a joke. I truly don't get cricket, that's not the joke. The other part was the joke.)

@Arkaoz You know, there is a Cricket World Cup (involving more than one or two countries) :) Pakistan, India, Australia and England are some of the better teams...

    Seriously though, Cricket is weird.

  • AbenZin

Oh come on people. It's very simple!
You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in the side that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he's out. When they are all out, the side that's out comes in and the side thats been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.
When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who stay all out all the time and they decide when the men who are in are out.
When both sides have been in and all the men have out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game!

Oh. My. Gavin. Thank you sooo insanely much for this video. I spent a summer playing basketball in Australia and New Zealand. Rugby and cricket were on ALL the time, like as much as baseball and basketball in the US.

Rugby was easy to figure out, but I couldn't understand cricket. Now I do. I feel like my life is complete.

It amazes me how little he knows about cricket. Think of it this way: Its like american baseball minus two basses, the ball can break your hands, and you just keep running as much as possible without knocking the wickets over

I love that Gavin apparently knows how to play Cricket but couldn't communicate to Michael what was going on during the game. Don't at all fault him for not being able to explain the controls. It was way amusing listening to them try and explain the controls to each other when they switched sides. Can't wait for the next Play Pals. These really are packed with fun times.

Not that anyone will read this, but here are the basic fundamentals of the stats used in cricket for the 'Muricans. (using Baseball comparisons and Test Cricket rules)

Innings - In baseball there are 9 innings where each team gets 3 outs per inning
In cricket there are 2 innings where each team gets 10 outs per inning (the whole team bats)

Scoring - In baseball, players run around the 4 bases to score 1 point. Additionally they can hit a home run worth 1 point plus any other players on base.
In cricket, the two batsmen will run back and forth between the two wickets to score 1 point per cross. Additionally a ball that is hit off the pitch after touching the ground is worth 4 points and a "home run" is worth 6 points

Stats - The important numbers in cricket are listed as # of Outs / Points
(ex. from the World Cup - New Zealand 10/183 v Australia 3/186)

Additionally, as Gavin stated, there are 6 bowls (pitches) per over and those are tallied by: # of Overs played . bowl count
(ex. 33.1 means that there have been 33 overs played and 1 bowl already thrown)

Hope this was helpful to someone
