I once got sandwiched in between two semi trucks, the one on my right abruptly decided now was the time to merge into my lane and I had to hit the brakes and swerve off the highway or be killed.

I got cut off by an 18-wheeler once, he merged across two lanes to get to an exit. Somehow I had a gut feeling he'd do it and slowed down so I didn't get absolutely mullered.

My only accident (knock on wood) was when I was getting my license. I made it all the way through, tester said I did fine and just had to complete the 3 point turn test. Easiest thing in the world right? Nope. Some kid who just got his learners permit was going through the DMV parking lot, on a Sunday in summer so every MoFo was getting their license, with his mom's minivan and hit me while I was in park waiting to take the test. Then his mom tried to spin it off that it was MY fault somehow!

I've been in two minor car accidents, one my fault (scraped another car while pulling out of a parking space), and one I couldn't avoid (the guy two cars ahead slammed on his breaks, causing the guy in front of me to do the same. Unfortunately, while I saw all of this and slammed on mine as well, I couldn't stop fast enough and hit the guy in front of me and fucked up my bumper).

Before coming to Japan, I'd experience maybe 2-3 minor earthquakes, but they were all one's I heard about after the fact from the news; I was never aware of them when they were happening. Since coming here, I've been in a good few. The "worst" was the first, though none of them have been major. I was sitting in my last class of the day on a Friday when suddenly everyone’s phones started blaring warnings (a siren plus repeating "jishin (earthquake)" over and over. About two or three seconds later the building started shaking pretty noticeably for a few seconds, and then again a bit later with the aftershock. The best way I can think to describe it was that it was like being in a car driving down a bumpy road, or maybe sitting through light turbulence, except you're in a building. I was on the top floor (5th) as well.

I'd never experienced an earthquake until I lived in Japan and I was kind of unlucky. There were a fair number of very noticeable earthquakes every other week or so while I was living there (got woken up a few times by the shaking and stuff falling off my shelves) and all of my adult students had those same alarms of their phones so at least I got a bit of warning. But I was there when the big earthquake happened in 2011 and that was damn scary, luckily I was in the Kanagawa area, near Yokohama so it wasn't quite as bad there but the building shook pretty badly for a long time and there were aftershocks every few hours for days afterwards. I've since moved back to the UK (for unrelated reasons) but I wouldn't want to live somewhere which has frequent earthquakes again :s .

Luckily there haven't been any big ones since I've been here. Kyoto also seems not to usually be the epicenter of them anyway, which I'm more than alright with. I don't mind them when they happen, but apparently that biggest one was only a 3 on the Japanese scale as well, so I haven't experienced any major ones, luckily.

Most recent accident some dickhead decided to do an emergency stop for a pheasant in front of me. Being reasonable most drivers would just slow a little so that's what I did behind him, but no fucker wanted to put the life of a pheasant over mine and his so I rear ended him.

Mother Nature hates East Texas. Earthquakes all the time near where I live and a few counties over in Canton there were three tornadoes last night. I am going to go into my safe room and never come out.

Worst accident, I was in the backseat of our Toyota Highlander (about 3 months old) on the way back from Yellowstone at about 10pm, pitch black out. Didn't exactly see it, but I just hear my dad go "SHIT!", feel our car start swerving, then a bad crunch and slight spinning out. Front right completely crunched and right side dented so that my mom couldn't get out on her side. Hit a bison. Totaled the car.

I was once at a show in Quincy, Massachusetts and afterwards we were going to one of the band member's houses. The thing is, we didn't know that he lived on the very end of his street, which then proceeded to become a big-ass ditch.

So the guy who was driving, since this was a dark-ass street in Quincy, ran us into the big-ass ditch. Myself and the driver being the only sober people there we all had to push this damn thing out of the big-ass ditch. So that's mine!
