what they were saying about the kanye concert or w/e sounds almost like what reel big fish does when they play SR live like they just keep playing it like a ska song then a punk song then a disco song for like 10 fucking minutes and its  ok_hand

I like the fact that I literally talk to Harrison Ford about once a month because I work at an airport he flies out of commonly. Yes, he is a curmudgeonly old man who drives a shitty old car to fly his personal 2.5 million dollar jet.

My issue with them not publishing the gameplay footage, at least, for sponsors is that they are alienating nearly all of their audience. No one is going to be able to make it to every show. Most of us won't be able to make it to more than one or two at best. I am a huge fan of their content, their humor. I don't care if it's a lesser experience.

I have watched every single lp and ttd in GTA multiple times, now I have missed out on about five of their quasi-heists, which is their best content imo. It is really frustrating. I wish I had the time and money so that I could take time off work and travel a thousand miles to go to each of their shows, but it's just not realistic.

I would really love it if they would just upload the gameplay from the more 'scripted' aspects of the show. Primarily GTA. I get that it's a live show and that it's not like being there, but there's something to be said about being able to relive a concert or show by rewatching the tape. I bet attendees would appreciate seeing a better view of the screens and rewatching the bits they missed.

It's frustrating, but that is life. If you get to go, it's that much more memorable an experience. Not everyone can or wants to go, but for those select few who do, it's something that cannot be reproduced on video.

Even still, releasing the video would lessen the incentive for buying a ticket. I wouldn't be shocked to learn that lots of people might compromise with a free (or FIRST) video instead of going to buy the ticket, in which case they don't make enough money to actually do the show.

I've never been to one, but if their plans for Atlanta had actually worked out you're damn straight that I would have been there.

I only ever followed one band to several shows. Some friends and I went to see Powerman 5000 in Illinois and while they put on a good show one of the opening acts was a Chicago based band called Rebels Without Applause that blew us away. After they played we bought their album, spoke with them for a bit and wound up in Milwaukee the next weekend. They were opening up for Powerman 5000 again, but we were there for RWA.

Then there’s shows that are way more than just a band playing music live: Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper, Rammstein, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Amon Amarth, Sabaton, Slipknot. All put on a great show on top of playing music. There’s giant robots, guillotines, fire everywhere, stages lifting into the air, Viking longships and tanks on stage, spinning drum sets.

Off the top of my head I can remember one concert where a band that was supposed to play couldn’t. STP at WJJO Sonic Boom a couple years ago couldn’t play, and they let Godsmack play their time as well. I was never much of a Godsmack fan before, but that night convinced me otherwise. They put on a fantastic live show, great stage presence and crowd interaction.

Now that I’m going back through some of what I’ve seen, Wisconsin is lucky to have a bunch of rock festivals nearby.

I saw Metallica in 2005, taking my wife to see them this summer for our anniversary. That being said, the craziest show would of had to be my first show - when I was 16, I saw Slayer opening for Pantera in 2001. It was just pure insanity, watching cops in riot gear escorting paramedics onto the floor to take people away om stretchers. I still try to take in a good death metal show every 6 months (although it's been more then a year) but it's expensive to travel to Vancouver from where I live. Next one is in May, going to see Exhumed, Dying Fetus, Psycroptic, Visceral Disgorge and Archspire, Last one was Suffocation, Cattle Decapitaion, Job for a Cowboy, Revocation, Toxic Holocaust and Archspire

I saw Hollywood Undead at a multi-stage festival and before they came on it was raining so, for about 30 minutes, there was a dude with a squeegee getting water off the front part of the stage. that guy became a rockstar in those 30 minutes getting the crowd (probably a couple thousand) hyped up, chanting "squeegee guy!". then when the band played, they brought him out on stage with them during a couple songs to rock out with them.

I've been to 3 Iron Maiden concerts, including the one Jack mentioned in Brazil, they put on an amazing show indeed, now I'm in my 30s and although I don't listen to them as often, I'd go on another concert in a heartbeat.
Best concert I ever went to was Rock in Rio in 2001, Sepultura, Queens of the Stone Age, Rob Halford leading up to the best Iron Maiden concert I've been to. They even put out a dvd / album from that show.

I think I'm done with Off Topic. I normally listen to the audio version and it's been getting more and more tedious as they do visual stuff on set. On top of that, I think the "off topic" nature of the show has resulted in less and less entertaining discussion. Overall, I'm just bored by it now. Just wanted to give some feedback before I peace out.

I definitely understand that the audio version must be getting boring and boring over time. It is funny and a great time to watch the actual podcast, and something good to have on just in the background. But overall if you are looking for something interesting to focus on and listen to, it may not be for you.

Speaking of concerts, Phish.  I've seen them 16 different times in 9 different venues.  All were awesome shows and none of them were anywhere near the same not even the set lists.  They play Madison Square Garden basically every year for New Years. They do some sort of 'stunt' for every New Years show. They would do things like, launch the drummer from a cannon, play on top of an old bus in the middle of the crowd, they also had groups of people form something like 20 different countries come out and sing the chorus and do the dance from a song. This year they are doing a 13 night run there.  I'd say they've made it.  I've seen other bands in concert but Phish shows are always a special event.

While i hve no doubt it wasn't intended as such, the "she was born a dude" jokes are really alienating as a trans person. Again, i'm not saying he was intending to be trans-phobic or anything, just.... it's really alienating is all.

If it wasn't intended then don't take it as such. I mean wars have been started over that very concept, so I'm not insulting you, but that is my recommendation to survive modern society and the internet.

I believe Bethany was always a girl but has both genitalia (which we all do at first), but there are cases were one just lays dormant. The condition is in a House episode with a model.

    • cantab1611 FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

Ok here's the problem. While i don't believe he was trying to mock trans people, when he makes that joke the insinuation is that it would be a shameful/terrible thing to be be a woman born with a penis. It insinuates it's disgusting, that there's something wrong with it. Regardless of his intention, that's a shitty insinuation.
If i say something that directly implies your existence is wrong and then say "well i didnt mean it like that, just like....dont have a problem with it" you probably wouldn't be ok with it. I wasn't asking for your opinion on wether i should have a fucking problem with it or not. I was stating that it was alienating in a reasonable and calm fashion, (i.e. the way Nick talked about being a productive way for fans to express a problem later on in the podcast.) rather than getting angry and just calling him a bigot or an asshole bc i didnt think that'd be an effective way to let a person know they're doing something that makes myself, and most likely a wider section of their audience, uncomfortable. I figured, "hey, if im reasonable, people are ore likely to listen
Nice to see from the neg mods that i was wrong, the community is as full of fucking 12 year olds as ever, and that there's no point trying to ask people not to be fucking cunts bc the result is just "stop being offended when people insult you"

    • JayNut FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold Verified RT Scrobbler

Well i think your speaking for other people, and the actual being alienated by something GEOFF said, is what's getting your neg mods, not that the community is "fucking 12yr olds" and the people disagreeing with you about how you cant take a "Geoff" joke from Geoff, doesnt make them cunts it kinda highlights YOU as mingey.

    • cantab1611 FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

Yeah you're right, it's totally unreasonable to say how something anyone does made you feel (i didnt even say he shouldn't do it, you'll notice, i just pointed out the impact it had on myself and others ive talked to).
Only reason i even said anything or care is because i actually like and respect Geoff and these guys and so i give a shit what they say, if this was some random asshole who i didnt care about it'd have no impact. And ok maybe i overreacted with the second comment but fuck me it's frustrating when you can't remotely comment anything but complete positivity about everything they do without getting shit on

    • Phatnaru FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

I don't agree with your original statement. I think you might be being a little over-sensitive on the matter. If you can't laugh at yourself, then I don't think you are suited for their brand of comedy. They say things that insults who I am all the time, and in more hostile ways. For example, I'm fat, and I can't count how many times I've heard Geoff or Michael say "disgusting, fat slob", but you got to learn to find the humor in it and laugh along, otherwise, you have no right to laugh at jokes towards other groups of people.

As for the neg-modding, I completely understand where you are coming from. I can't count how many times in recent years that I've been berated on this site for having a differing opinion.

I remember a Motley Crue concert I went to. A black security guard standing between the stage and first row punched some woman in the face and the band saw it. Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx start yelling at him and kicking him in the back of the head and Vince says in the mike for the crowd to beat this fucker down and got a riot in the making. My dad said it's time to get up out of here and we took some employee only hallways to get out of the coliseum. When we got out and was cutting through the parking lot about ten police squad cars come hauling ass in and the police start donning riot gear. I think they ended up charging the band with assault and battery and inciting a riot. Also they got banned from entering the city for ten years.

As far as the person bitching about the Let's Play Live promos in front of all the videos... uh...

Have they never watched Achievement Hunter content before? You can pretty much date the videos by the buffers. There was a Christmas one that ran for an entire month, there was a run of an anniversary sale buffer with Geoff and Gavin pretending to be awkward, there was a period of time that felt like it was months long with one about Lazer Team that was narrated by Barbara, like, this is not a new thing that Jack just randomly started doing, and it really makes it look like they haven't actually watched the content.
