Just in case Gus ever looks at this, which I doubt he will, the Air France 447 crash (the one you mentioned) had both pilot error and automation error. Quote:

"At 02:10:05 UTC the autopilot disengaged because the blocked pitot tubes were no longer providing valid airspeed information, and the airplane transitioned from normal law to alternate law 2.[19] The engines' auto-thrust systems disengaged three seconds later. Without the auto-pilot, the aircraft started to roll to the right due to turbulence, and the pilot reacted by deflecting his side-stick to the left. One consequence of the change to alternate law was an increase in the aircraft's sensitivity to roll, and the pilot's input over-corrected for the initial upset. During the next 30 seconds, the aircraft rolled alternately left and right as the pilot adjusted to the altered handling characteristics of his aircraft.[20] At the same time he made an abrupt nose-up input on the side-stick, an action that was unnecessary and excessive under the circumstances.[21] The aircraft's stall warning sounded briefly twice due to the angle of attack tolerance being exceeded, and the aircraft's recorded airspeed dropped sharply from 274 knots (507 km/h; 315 mph) to 52 knots (96 km/h; 60 mph). The aircraft's angle of attack increased, and the aircraft started to climb. By the time the pilot had control of the aircraft's roll, it was climbing at nearly 7,000 feet per minute (36 m/s)[20] (for comparison, typical normal rate of climb for modern airliners is only 2,000–3,000 feet per minute (10–15 m/s) at sea level, and much smaller at high altitude).

At 02:10:34, after displaying incorrectly for half a minute, the left-side instruments recorded a sharp rise in airspeed to 223 knots (413 km/h; 257 mph), as did the Integrated Standby Instrument System (ISIS) 33 seconds later[22] (the right-side instruments are not recorded by the recorder). The icing event had lasted for just over a minute.[23][24][25] The pilot continued making nose-up inputs. The trimmable horizontal stabilizer (THS) moved from three to 13 degrees nose-up in about one minute, and remained in that latter position until the end of the flight.

At 02:11:10 UTC, the aircraft had climbed to its maximum altitude of around 38,000 feet (12,000 m). There, its angle of attack was 16 degrees, and the engine thrust levers were in the fully forward Takeoff/Go-around detent (TOGA). As the aircraft began to descend, the angle of attack rapidly increased toward 30 degrees. A second consequence of the reconfiguration into alternate law was that stall protection no longer operated. Whereas in normal law, the airplane's flight management computers would have acted to prevent such a high angle of attack, in alternate law this did not happen. (Indeed, the switch into alternate law occurred precisely because the computers, denied reliable speed data, were no longer able to provide such protection – nor many of the other functions expected of normal law).[26] The wings lost lift and the aircraft stalled.

At 02:11:40 UTC, the captain re-entered the cockpit. The angle of attack had then reached 40 degrees, and the aircraft had descended to 35,000 feet (11,000 m) with the engines running at almost 100% N1 (the rotational speed of the front intake fan, which delivers most of a turbofan engine's thrust). The stall warnings stopped, as all airspeed indications were now considered invalid by the aircraft's computer due to the high angle of attack.[27] In other words, the aircraft had its nose above the horizon but was descending steeply. Roughly 20 seconds later, at 02:12 UTC, the pilot decreased the aircraft's pitch slightly, airspeed indications became valid and the stall warning sounded again and sounded intermittently for the remaining duration of the flight, but stopped when the pilot increased the aircraft's nose-up pitch. From there until the end of the flight, the angle of attack never dropped below 35 degrees. From the time the aircraft stalled until its impact with the ocean, the engines were primarily developing either 100 percent N1 or TOGA thrust, though they were briefly spooled down to about 50 percent N1 on two occasions. The engines always responded to commands and were developing in excess of 100 percent N1 when the flight ended.

The flight data recordings stopped at 02:14:28 UTC, or three hours 45 minutes after takeoff. At that point, the aircraft's ground speed was 107 knots (198 km/h; 123 mph), and it was descending at 10,912 feet per minute (55.43 m/s) (108 knots (200 km/h; 124 mph) of vertical speed). Its pitch was 16.2 degrees (nose up), with a roll angle of 5.3 degrees left. During its descent, the aircraft had turned more than 180 degrees to the right to a compass heading of 270 degrees. The aircraft remained stalled during its entire 3 minute 30 second descent from 38,000 feet (12,000 m)[28] before it hit the ocean surface at a speed of 152 knots (282 km/h; 175 mph)."

The final report attributed the crash mainly to pilot error but with a smattering of blame placed on fly-by-wire system, and the over-reliance on automation in pilot training. The pilots should have recognized their incredibly nose-high attitude, and the lack of stall protection inherent in the control law change.

I did something similar to Gus' alt+F4 thing in a game of Gmod Murder. I was so well hidden that I was the last person alive and I told the murderer that I wouldn't revel myself but he could use /kill (my name) so the round would end and he did it, and it was the funniest thing I had ever done.

I remember playing WoW way back in the Wrath days, one of my friends was starting up a new character and setting his keybinds. He would use the F-keys, but usually only shift modifiers were needed. This time he went all the way with ctrl, shift, and alt, and lets just say every time he needed to use Metamorphasis (Demonology warlock) he would disconnect. Luckily we were extremely overgeared running him through the Icecrown dungeons to get gear and could deal without. Took him like 3 days to figure out what was happening and we all lost our shit when he told us what was up.

The only thing I can think of is if the cartoon and the live action films had differing names. I always knew them as ninja turtles but I was more familiar with the live action films, so maybe they were ninja and the cartoon was hero.

I just get cringy whenever Jack talks about pc gaming.. Just saying you have the ability to upgrade every year doesn't mean it will adapted well. Just because you think someone will like it for your reasons, doesn't mean they want it. Like that WoW conversation where Jeremy was like "no, not for me" Jack:"yeah but it can be fun" Jeremy:"Yeah, im sure" lol

I feel like it would be a shame to replace the Off Topic table. Not only would it take them about 5 minutes to fuck up a new and better table, but it has history now or something. Its way cooler when you use things for their purpose and thats what the table is now. Its not only holding your drinks, but also a bit of Off Topic too. Idk maybe Im just a nostalgic fan who cares too much about a table! lol

Its really funny to be for the longest time angry PC gamers were bitching at them to drop xbox for PC and their response was. "no were more comfortable on an xbox and we dont really care about the graphic boost." now all of a sudden Jacks been on this kick of lets just do PC because it looks better.

Also Ryan read the digital foundry article Scorpio will handle 4K alot better then Pro. The only question will the games deliver.

I just got to 1:47:00 and

as someone who has criticized you guys for going into politics in the past, I just wanted to say that I loved this. You didn't go on a tangent, you didn't say "I hate so-and-so because they are an idiot", and you didn't say "this is wrong and you can't deny it". Instead, you said "I don't think this choice was a good idea because..., but that's just my opinion".

I don't mean to sound patronizing, and I can't speak for everyone that gets upset at the mention of politics, but I'm saying this because I feel that you should know that I (and I don't think I'm the only one) wasn't looking for you to never mention politics. I was just hoping you would address the topics in that kind of manner. When someone, who disagrees with you sees that, instead of thinking "Well clearly this person looks down on me and people that think like me," they think "Hmm, they make a good point. I'll see if I can prove that wrong. If not, maybe I ought to rethink some things"

Anyway, I know this will probably get downvoted (just an assumption based on past comments, but I could be wrong). Regardless, I was just hoping one of you would see it, because political rants put a damper on my day, and thoughtful discussion tends to brighten it up, and I was hoping to see more of it in the future.

automation addiction is a hell of a thing.  A/C automation is easy and we have been doing it forever. Most Airline pilots fly the plane less then 10min a flight. They turn on the autopilot as soon as legally/company policy possible.

It's nice Ryan has a proper knife now and can use it instead of that knife on his keychain. And yeah Power Rangers was an actually good movie. They changed some of the lore but it actually worked for he movie. Just hope they don't mess with Tommy too much in the sequel.

Gus, you get that it wasn't the automation that made them crash right? It *was*, like Ryan said, them fighting the automation that caused an actual crash. The Automation would have had them do a nice, safe, emergency landing.

Sure, without automation the pilot might've just gone "oh it's fucked up, lets ignore it." but if the pilots didn't think to disengage the autopilot before attempting to correct...
