Trivia Murder Party with Derrick (Mega64)

Let's Play: Trivia Murder Party with Derrick (Mega64)

Derrick from Mega64 had such a good time playing Drawful with Achievement Hunter. They were drawing and laughing and using their two crayons as chopsticks. It was a lovely, lovely time. So lovely, in fact, they didn't notice that a weird, creepy serial killer stuffed them all into burlap sacks and threw them into a crusty old basement. Now their task is simple - answer trivia questions, try not to be killed, and continue having tons of fun!

Yeah I call total bullshit on maroon as a shade of purple. Maroon is a red/red-brown colour. Although apparently the exact colour can depend on what you're calling maroon, since apparently in X11 colour names (whatever those are) there's a colour called maroon which could arguably be considered a shade of purple.

wild turkeys can fly.... domestic turkeys can not since they are bred to have large meaty breasts and meatier thighs. In doing that the ability to fly was bred out.  *domestic turkeys are also very stupid, they will stand in the rain looking up, beaks open and drown themselves. which is how my father lost his flock.*

As someone who also went to art school, I have to say it was a poor question and Jeremy was absolutely right in his CMYK / RGB explanation.

Magenta --not purple-- is a RGB secondary color and a CMYK primary color. So you can't define magenta as a shade of purple. Magenta is literally magenta, you can't call it a shade of anything else. If anything, purple is a hue between magenta and blue. (edit: That's the other thing, it's a hue. Tints and shades are different than hues)

Even outside of technical definition, I've never thought of magenta as purple. It's always been fairly pink to me. It doesn't even look "purple". The only thing that can define it as purple is the fact that it is red and blue in RGB, but as previously stated, full red and full blue in RGB is just "magenta".

    • DaniBoi95

No, Jeremy is actually correct (on this one thing). Magenta is not a shade of anything, much like Cyan is not. It's just a secondary color rather than a primary and is between violet and red. "Shade" is just a different concept entirely rather than the way it is commonly defined. A light blue color (like sky blue) is a shade of blue as it is understood and distinguished from blue (and does not fall on the color wheel); because magenta is understood and identified apart from purple, it isn't a shade of purple (even though it has purple in it).

Jeremy is right. Magenta is not a shade of purple. It is composed of red, blue, and green, but humans cannot see to green in the color so it look pinkish or purplish. It is not derived from purple.

all shades can be considered mixed by red, blue, and green. thats what the rgb color scale is. but magenta is a shade of purple which is a mixture of red and blue. all colors are pretty much red, green, and blue.

Jeremy's CMYK explanation was actually spot-on, he was 100% right. Purple is a hue between magenta and blue. Magenta isn't a "shade" of anything. He was also right about "shade" vs. "tint".
