Don't worry Ryan you're still a fine lookin chap, also Jerry or Remy are much better nicknames for Jeremy than Jeza haha

shooting up down a hill IS more effective but Gavin's reasoning still makes him a dumb ass XD

Yeah it's been said but Gavin is right, just for all the wrong reasons.

God I missed Gavin's hysterically bad arguing/explaining, lol. Sad part is, he's totally right about Ryan's shitty turret placement, except his argument should've been FIELD OF VIEW, not friggin gravity or bullet range, hahaha.

Awesome seeing Jeremy fit into the LP so well and actively! Definitely my favorite of the new fellas.

Here's the thing: Gavin is absolutely right about top vs bottom of the hill, that's not really the problem with the turret. The problem with the turret is that it seems to have a rather lack of up to its firing arc - in other words, it doesn't seem to be able to shoot anyone at the top of the hill because of design limitations. Compare that to the considerable downward arc these turrets seem to possess.....

I have no idea what Gavin was trying to say.....also Ryan is still a pretty good looking dude but it is true that he was very, very handsome when he was younger.

References aside, the problem is that it sounds like Gavin is trying to make a point, and then explain his side by making a completely different point. He brings up like four different properties of physics in an attempt to better explain one of them. Granted, this is often the case, but here he strays from his point enough that it's relatively incomprehensible.

Clearly, Gavin forgot that a bullet's range is affected at the speed of push. Its range from said hill depends on the probability a coin lands on heads out of three flips.

I find it ironic that Gavin, of all people, is correct about the physics - the bullet will go further downhill than uphill because, while it will take the same time before it hits the ground in both cases, the parallel-to-hill component of its acceleration due to gravity will speed it up when it's going down the hill but slow it down when it's going up.

Ryan, a gun has a greater range if placed at the top of a hill. Height advantage is very important in the placement of defensive armourment.
That's what Gavin is trying to say.

Gavin you feel useless when you are not in a titan because you use the Kraber. Use the DMR or the G2A4 in frontier defense if you want range.

Ryan said he a portfolio of his modeling pictures that aren't on the internet. He said he might break them out for a charity stream.

New show Explanations with Ryan and Gavin

In it Ryan and Gavin each have one side of an argument and explain it using pictures diagrams or whatever and other employees decide which of them is correct and which ones wrong and the loser does something stupid or whatever like being hit with a pie or being soaked or working a day with wet underwear or something like that, Be pretty good wouldnt it?

can we get an animated adventure of ryan and gavin arguing about the effect of gravity on bullets in an environment of hills.

I agree. The video of Ryan trying to explain hill bullets vs gravity to Gavin would be freaking golden.

  • Raltrios Dislike the new site!

If Gavin were talking about your field of vision, he'd be correct in that bottom of a hill is bad. But since he was only talking about how gravity works on a high-velocity bullet on a tiny-ass hill, he's being a dumbass because there's effectively no difference on the bullet whatsoever over that kind of distance.

To think about what it would be like over a long distance, replace "shooting a bullet" with "throwing a ball"

  • orderlykaos

First of all, Gavin is right. Shooting down does preserver trajectory and velocity and all that jazz. Another advantage is on top of the hill you see the hill side and the land below the hill. Shooting from the bottom of the hill upwards, bullet drop will affect you much more and you can't see anything beyond the hill top. Far reduced field of view and bullet drop disadvantage. Essentially, Ryan's turret only had like 10 feet of visibility. Ryan picked a stupid spot. The end.

  • MGurr

If we ignore Gavin's explanation for a second he is right about wanting to shoot downhill for the reason that it means enemies attacking you have to run uphill making them slower and therefore easier targets. Additionally their bodies would potentially roll down the hill (or stay roughly where they fall) further impeding any troops attempting to advance on you from behind the first wave.

I think the main problem with what Gavin was trying to articulate is that he referred to gravity being parallel to the Earth when he probably meant to say perpendicular to the Earth's centre of mass meaning that the forces acting on bullets going either up or down the hill would experience different trigonometric resolutions of their force due to gravity.

Arrek, right. But there WERE points in the conversation where they were denying that even over a large distance down a hill it wouldn't change if you shot up or down the hill... It most definitely will, as a former Cavalry Scout and Long Range Marksman, while I don't know all the scientific terms and reasons why (other than gravity not being formed to the structure of the hill), it is most definitely true.
