Airsoft guns really don't hurt that bad, I feel like they need to shoot each other with them so they stop being so afraid. AH airsoft war?

They know airsoft guns don't really hurt, what they're worried about is getting hit in the eye, which would be pretty bad.

I love how Jeremy looks like he's wearing protective glasses through the entire video and we're getting better gun safety tips than what's actually taught it seems.

I typically don't take a stance on gun issues, but I'm a little frustrated with the overwhelming amount of comments here about Ryan and his lack of gun safety and whatnot, not because I support guns but because I support Achievement Hunter. First of all, believe it or not Ryan is an adult, and a rather intelligent one, he said that he checked and confirmed it wasn't loaded, and was waving the thing around enough to be able to hear if any of those little bullets had been jammed in the mechanisms, so it was 100% safe and Ryan said that. As for someone possibly trying to copy this at home thinking it was also safe, if you had paid attention you would have noticed a text disclaimer saying in all caps "DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME", flashing on the screen while the incident was occurring. Secondly, it is a kids toy and has been rated as so, it's not dangerous and Jack is really exaggerating how dangerous it could be. Which was mostly because it was a "gun", even though it's likely the least dangerous "weapon" they have played with in their content. Lastly, those things were sent to the AH crew by their fans who are now complaining about seeing them in content, so if you have a problem with it, stop sending them guns, but don't complain once the AH guys try to use them to make content.

Well just for a simple survival instinct you shouldn't enjoy guns being pointed at your fuckin face (I myself never thought such an aversion to that scenario would be controversial but hey it's the Internet) and they've all said that they are all way too comfortable firing them in the office where they work and their sensitive equipment is, because as it is a non lethal weapon there's a more laid back attitude as opposed to them handling the swords and knives they've been given, which again is a bit laid back towards those as well though obv. not as light as the Airsoft guns, and Jacks primary concern is losing an eye over anyone of the chance of someone getting lost in the moment as we all can do and firing a BB that ricochets and hits him, who wanted no part of it to begin with, but he doesn't stopanyone from opening the boxes and makes certain they are shows  on the stream (to which on YouTube he gets flamed for having the stream, people are never happy) not wanting to be shot in the eye should not be held as controversial so I don't understand why all these counter arguments try to scapegoat him

Ok... I ain't US-American - so my version of "gun-safety" is "no guns for anyone but the military/police/licensed hunters"... But fucking seriously??? So many comments about "gun safety" "guns" "omg Ryan how-could-you" - like, are you even fucking serious...?
First off - stop talking about guns as if that thing isn't a fucking kids toy that is only marginally more dangerous than a fucking NERF gun. If that bullet hit you point blank in the head - it *might* sting a little. Eye? Still dangerous - of course. Anywhere else? A fly hitting you at full speed would hurt about as much. (Source: I own 5 of those things and have been shot by them multiple times)
Secondly - the gun wasn't loaded. Yes, anyone who *has* owned those types of toy guns knows that bullets can get lodged in the mechanism - it happens. Do I trust the fact that Ryan checked not only that the gun was not loaded - but that he also checked that there wasnt anything rattling around? I do. Do I trust the fact that Ryan also test-fired it to check "just in case" ? I do. Apparently - most people don't. Either way...
Anyone that realises those are TOY GUNS and not actual BB-guns (Fallout 3-style) would have no problem sitting there and letting someone shoot them in the head... At most - they sting a little. These are the same people that got hit with paintball guns!!! Or did you gun-safety-nuts forget that part? Bet none of you complained then - or did you...?

C'mon Ryan. I know AH is a place to act like a stupid kid, but since actual stupid kids watch your content you might not want to teach such bad gun safety. Yes, the bb guns you have are low-powered and not likely to hurt anyone, but not everyone might realize that they have something stronger and could hurt someone following your example.

    • chiefwillis FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

I feel the need to point something out; one that is often missed in such scenarios. They are NOT catering any content other than Schooled towards children. As such they play rated M games, curse constantly, talk about shit and fuckin' AND running over innocent animals to ensure their death. If a child happens to watch this content it is at the behest of parental guidance and acknowledgement of a mature content warning. The liability you are assuming unto Ryan is false in that by no means should a kid actually be watching this regardless of whether or not they are. The porn industry isn't about to teach safe sex just because a few kids sneak watch it; so these mature comedians aren't going to change their comedy for a few kids.

When I say stupid kid, I don't mean actual child. More like a teenager or even college student. If Jackass had to show a warning ahead of their stuff because idiots are copying them, then I am not sure how Ryan acting like a prick wouldn't influence people from thinking that being a prick is funny. If Jack and Jeremy weren't clearly uncomfortable about it then it would be a different story, but this doesn't come off as comedy just Bullying.

If that is the age group you specify as targeted then it would still mean they target 18+ audiences, which by definition are adults. They, in the U.S., are able to shoot guns, fly and use fighter jets, and smoke cigarettes; as such there is an inherent presumption of responsibility and accountability when one turns that age. Which again mitigates responsibility away from Ryan. Furthermore it is quite literally a toy that children can again literally buy at 16. But your argument would be valid if any of the preceding weren't true. However, I must stress, they and their viewers are adults. Furthermore the warning on JackAss is a somewhat unique one in that you didn't see such a warning on any other R-rated movies did you?

Favourite AHer or not, Ryan's gun attitude is beginning to make me hate watching videos with him in. Whatever your attitude towards guns is, pointing one at someones head knowing they really hate is a shitty thing to do.

    • M_Keyn FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

I've had one of those guns since I was like 12 - they're rated somewhere around that age anyways - but let me just tell you - getting shot by that thing, is literally like a fly hitting you at full speed. Yes, it's still dangerous if you get hit in the eye - but the fact that Jack is so scared of them (Needlessly) is exactly why Ryan does this (Also because its funny). He needs to learn that - of all the fucking axes, machetes, knives and blowdarts in their office - those "BB-guns" are NOTHING.
Note: I am basing this on my own experience with these types of "guns". If theirs are - for _some_ reason - super-powered or something - then you can of course completely disregard my comment :P

I like guns.  I think guns are cool and I think they can be fun.  It bothers me when AH guys say they're scared of guns.  Ryan seems to be one of the few AH guys who isn't anti gun.  But it's completely frustrating to watch Ryan blatantly ignore gun safety.  I have friends who are uncomfortable around guns, but the solution is to educate, not to tell them to quit being a baby.  I get annoyed whenever one of the ah guys say they don't like guns, and I generally enjoy Ryan being his maniacal self, but the lack of awareness with the weapons is immature and aggravating.  From Michael purposely loading the bb guns, to constantly flagging other people.  I honestly think Gav and Dan have the most mature attitude about guns.  Gav doesn't like guns, but Dan obviously knows his way around one.  Dan doesn't seem to give gavin any crap about it, and seems to accommodate and educate him.  In fact I'm sure gavin understands a gun is a tool, and can be used for good, bad, or fun depending on the hands it is in.  I think some people just don't like the responsibility of a having a tool that could easily injure or kill someone in their hands, and thats okay.

Unless I see him check the chamber myself, I wouldn't trust him, even with a bb. Even then I would punch Ryan for even pointing it anywhere near me nevermind my head. I grew up with guns and love them, but gun safety is one thing I don't fuck around with. Always check the chamber to see if it's empty. Never point a weapon at anything unless you intend to shoot. Never put your finger on the trigger until ready to shoot.

    • M_Keyn FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

      @powerati
It's not even a fucking BB... Don't talk shit unless you've actually owned one of those guns... Nerf guns are on a similar level. They have fucking knives, axes, blowdarts and fucking bows - and yet people are having a hissy fit over toy guns that 12-yo can use... Hmm... Ironically... I suppose this comment could be construed as a hissy fit as well... Ah, well. Hipocrisy FTW.

    • Fr0zen12

Powerati I have to disagree. Ryan commented he checked the chamber, and was waving the thing around enough that any stray bb in there would have been heard rattling. I'd also like to point out Ryan never did put his finger on the trigger. I don't typically take a stance on guns, and I don't really consider this a stance on "guns" rather than toys, but we've seen the AH guys with much more dangerous items while being very much safe, I think we can assume that everything was alright.

    • DreadedR

Yeah Jack doesn't like the chance of his eyes being shot out by asshole behavior of pointing BB guns or Airsoft rifles at his head with only a passing glance to see if it's loaded or not or walking into the office seconds before a loaded one is fired and ricochets around the office and breaks more equipment, he's clearly the unreasonable one (sarcasm)

    • Neo_Baggins FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

@powerati I will just reiterate that this gun is a toy, no matter how you slice it. Even a bb gun is designed to kill, even if it isn't very good at it. This is designed as a toy to be shot at someone and not injure them seriously. It's still dangerous, but Ryan's actions were fine in my book. Real gun safety is a big deal to me too, but with a gun designed to be shot at your friends, I'll let it slide.

  • NonprofitProphet FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

When I was a kid, I used to point a BB gun at my sister to scare her. I'd pull the trigger too, knowing it was empty, to make it click and scare her even more. One day I went to do the same thing, but for some reason decided to point it at the floor before pulling the trigger. Turns out it was loaded (my father had used it to try to kill a mole) and it left a big hole in the wood floor. I could have blinded her. I don't know why I pointed it at the floor that time instead of her - maybe I subconsciously felt the extra weight of the compressed air from it being pumped.

I never pointed it at her or any other living thing ever again. Even BB guns are not a joke. Ryan should absolutely not be pointing it at Jack like that.

    • Neo_Baggins FIRST Member Star(s) Indication of membership status - One star is a FIRST member, two stars is Double Gold

Gun safety is important, even with bb guns. But to play devils advocate, these are inexpensive (read low muzzle velocity) airsoft guns. Likely spring powered and designed to be shot at a person. It can still take out an eye, crack a tooth maybe, but if you compare the projectiles, a plastic bb with about a quarter the mass and twice the surface area of a metal bb, it really starts to bring the threat factor down. Again, they're not fischer-price baby approved, but shoot yourself with a cheap bb gun firing traditional bbs, that's still a real gun. It's going to break skin and probably traverse beneath it, which will require you to milk it out in the end. The bbs in Ryan's gun go slower and weigh less and slow down faster, and will leave a blood blister at worst, maybe a little blood drawn.

I didn't realize it was a low-velocity airsoft gun. Different thing entirely in that case. Still, he shouldn't be pointing it at Jack if it makes Jack uncomfortable. Jack's being a bit of a baby, but Ryan should still respect that he's afraid of them.
