You know, as much as as I wish they could make these longer, I also recognize that they probably have a lot of shit to do in a given week, I'm sure it's a big to them to spend more than an hour on a single project in a given work day. I wish it could be longer, like many do, but I'm still loving this series.

Love the show and loving the Post Shows too, but still wish the minimum would be an hour for the show, feels like a short session otherwise. And Geoff at the end was right, the pacing/leveling is a bit too slow:it's episode 12 and still not even level 3/second level spells yet??? Should be at least level 3-4 by now, unless you want this one campaign to go on for 100+ episodes

I'm still waiting for them to get to the city so they (and we) can sink their (and our) teeth into some nice juicy plot. However, it's been established since the first trek in the jungle that this is meant to be a more combat-oriented campaign, which might be fine for the newer players and some audience members, but to me, it just drags out EVERYTHING. Maybe other story-driven campaigns have soiled the game for me, but I was under the impression that D&D was a story-driven game (barring the 4E rules, which were designed entirely for the purpose of dungeon-crawling).

I'm pretty sure what they have been doing the last couple episodes has been what amounts to a side-quest. They could have totally skipped this whole thing and got on with their actual mission. Not to mention they have hardly done anything. They literally spent an episode in a village and banging. They actually have not really been in that many major encounters. So far only like 3 episodes out of 12 have they actually faced a large number of enemies. And Frank is just letting the group do their own thing. They are the ones jerking around a lot and interrogating every enemy they come across and generally just having fun, which doesn't exactly advance the party forward but makes the game 100x more fun and that is fine cause that is actually the part I love most. If you're looking for a group that will quickly advance the plot and try to level up as quick as possible then you might be looking in the wrong place. I enjoy the pacing and I like Frank not just showering them with XP every time they take a step, he is making them earn it.

Also if you ever listened to old episodes of the RT podcast when Geoff was on regularly, him and Gus used to talk about them playing D&D and Frank was their DM then too, so Frank certainly has years of experience being a DM with those 2 knuckleheads as well. it seems like he is a awesome DM and Geoff is probably just meta gaming Frank with that statement, trying to get more experience out of him, but like I said, they really have not done that much.

One other point, although this might be episode 12, I think this is actually only their 3rd actual gaming session, I have played with a group before where we kinda messed around a lot and would spend like half an hour figuring out how to breach and clear a room. Needless to say, we did not level up very often and I think our DM got tired of us cause after the 5th session, it seemed like there were suddenly way more traps and he basically started to pick us off 1 by 1. Still was a lot of fun for us even though for our poor DM, he probably could not wait for us to finally move forward or actually do anything of importance.

You make some good points. I have to remind myself that this is Achievement Hunter and they're going to dick around, rather than the other group I'm watching (the Late Night Crew). There are several significant differences between their DM (Snake) and Frank; Snake gives EXP based on how far they've advanced in the story, rather than what enemies they've defeated. It means there's less minor skirmishes (no bears or giant mosquitoes), but the battles carry more weight to the story--there's always something to learn about the bigger picture. In H&H, it would make more sense to have many small battles to help the party become stronger, because that's how they earn EXP in Frank's game. And they seem to enjoy the combat--whenever Ryan tries to trick or intimidate the enemy to avoid a battle (something about his game that I've always appreciated), everyone else gets mad at him and Frank has them battle anyway. Meanwhile, the Late Night Crew will only fight if they have to, but that might be because their party, currently, is escorting a woman and her family, including two young children. It's in their best interest to keep that family safe, because this woman will pay them extra. The H&H party is full of combat-capable player and non-player characters, so they can (and frequently do) charge into combat. And both DMs allow that.

TL;DR edition: my expectations for H&H was ruined by another campaign with very different people and a very different tone. I can at least use this show to hold me over for the two-week wait between the Late Night Crew's sessions. And for all my previous whining (most of which, I take back), I am really enjoying it.

Also, it didn't occur to me when I wrote my first comment that each episode is only one third of a session, so the "slower progression" makes much more sense.

I love both of these D&D shows <3

Twits & Crits is like 20% following the rules (which makes an engrossing campaign) and 80% comedy. It's just stupid fun, and I love it.

Heroes & Halfwits is really enthralling. I'd say it's like 70% following the rules and 30% comedy. It's still really funny, but they take it a lot more seriously and have a lot of experience, making for a fantastic watch.

That said, I'd absolutely choose H&H over T&C.

You should probably check out Acquisitions Incorporated. They're a little more experienced and play a bit more seriously but there's still plenty of slap-ass. Scott and Mike have excellent chemistry and Chris Perkins is easily the best DM in the country, no offense to Frank.

Well, ot's because Funhaus has all of their player working in the smae place, however both Griffon and Frank are notworking at Rooster Teeth, meaning it's harder to film episode. so they play for like 4 hour, and get a month worth of episode that way.

Kirosh, its also been noted that Frank is still writing this as it goes. The only reason was able to stay ahead is because the group took so long to get through things. Im going to guess that starting with the session after this one that things start to pick up pace a bit more
