No one mentions the need for the Cap Collector perk to even buy level 3 stores.

    Couple of notes Jeremy:

Farming: One settler can handle up to 6 food. There is no limit on the number of plants involved. So there is no reason to specifically plant Mutfruit (which is pronounced mute-fruit btw, it's a mutation joke). In fact, if you plant Corn, Mutfruit, and Tato, you can make Vegetable Starch, which breaks down to 5 adhesive. I no longer struggle for adhesive.

Water: Having more Water (or food, actually) than is needed for the settlement is beneficial, as it will deposit the leftover in your workbench. So with some surplus water supplies, you can easily get large amount of Purified Water, which sells well.

Defense: Doesn't specifically have to be over 100. It has to be greater than the values of food and water combined. So you would have needed 123 to be "enough" (24 food 99 water). Additionally, achieving that reduces your chances of being attacked significantly.

Settlers: You can use Grape Mentats, fancy outfits, and alcohol to raise charisma and move settlers from one location to another. Thus, you can have more than 20. Get a bunch in two settlements, crank your charisma, transfer some from one to the other. They won't leave when you charisma goes down.

Just thought these were worth mentioning. If you want to put out a general settlement guide, or do an update to this video, I'm sure plenty of people would appreciate it. Love u guys.

I've actually heard that having more than the necessary amount of people will actually lower happiness, so 20 is actually the sweet spot. That way you can have 16 people at the shops and 4 people gathering food and if you are using Mutfruit it is much easier to attain the food goal you need. Also, in regards to the defense, I found that my happiness went up faster with the more defense, but seemed to cap out past 150. I think that's why he was so specific about certain things.

Once you have the perk, in build mode go up to an unnamed settler/companion if you've sent them there, highlight them, press RB/R1 on console (can't remember PC but it's down the bottom), and you get a menu of your other settlements, scroll down to the one you want to link and hit A/X. Your settler will wander off towards it and all the junk in the workshop will be shared. Note: Only junk is shared, food and water aren't.

irish is wrong food is shared you don't need to do it at large settlements you can rely on farms alone.

Also easy caps farming is to build industrial purifiers get like 6-8 at the castle and thats easy 4-7K caps a day with 10 charisma. Beware that generators can randomly break especially if they are next to each other

With the glitch of your resources not showing when you leave, mine was linked to a television. After removing it, that stopped happening.
Not sure if it's the only cause, but give that a try.

I also scrapped sanctuary at the start of the game :P
I gave them just enough to complete the quest string and keep them happy, then used all the resources left to make the rocket pit stop into a compact community. A triple story building and plenty of defenses for all keep the super mutents away, or kills them.

It's also easier when keeping companions on standby to have a small place to send them so you can find them quick.
Lastly, maybe at a settlement where you're not going for the achievement, build lots of corn, mutfruit and tato plants. Those, along with purified water can be cooked into an adhesive which are always needed, particularly early on.
